Customer Review for A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas – Kristin Chenoweth at Amazon

I am a big fan of Chenoweth. I think she is a lot of fun. Her CD, however, lacks the OOMPH and special feeling that is related to Christmas. Seeing that I am a fan of hers its pains me so much to say this. There are far more better Christmas CDs out there. There is really nothing on here to make it a GEM! -- Where is the OOMPH
Being a music major and avid listener to most types of music, I was taken aback when I realized I had never heard of Kristen Chenowith, especially after reading some of her bio material. A local radio station here in Central Illinois, WEZC, plays a great cross-section of decades of 'easy' listening music. During their all- Christmas music period, they played several tracks from this CD. First, I was captured by the beauty and message of the "Wonderful World" medley. Then the sheer purity of "What Child Is This" was breathtaking. She delivers so many styles, from the childlike, to country/western, to bold Broadway, and I'm sure she possesses even a stronger operatic style than evidenced on this CD. Because of the sweetness, purity, and fun of these songs, I bought a copy not only for myself, but also for my 2 y/o granddaughter, who, thanks to her Daddy, also a music major, is a great little singer already. I like to expose her to as many styles as possible! -- Purity and versatility
A wonderful Christmas album of familiar and less familiar tunes sung by a remarkable singer. Kristin Chenoweth brings joy to anyone who sees her, but her singing is also a breath of fresh air. Honest, and full of life. I bought 3 copies of this CD to give to family/friends. -- It certainly is a Lovely Way
Great music to put in your CD player, in your car, to look at the Christmas Lights!
Kristin has amazing diction, and you can understand every word of her songs...
Its a nice blend of traditional and sparkling new Holiday sounds! Way to go
Kristin! -- An Unusual Christmas Collection...
Kristin Chenoweth has a charming voice that's as clear as a bell and I love to hear her sing. This is a beautiful and strong holiday CD from Kristin; and every song's a winner! Kristin's sophisticated phrasing makes her singing all the better, too. The quality of the sound is excellent and that artwork is nicely done.

Kristin starts the CD with "I'll Be Home for Christmas;" this charming ballad shines so brightly when Kristin pours her heart and soul into this classic song! The piano arrangement works wonders for "I'll be Home for Christmas" and Kristin never skips a beat--I love it! "Christmas Island" is very playful; and listen for a lovely rendition of "The Christmas Waltz" with its lush musical arrangement. "The Christmas Waltz" is easily one of my very favorite songs on this album; Kristin does a great job on this track.

"Do You Hear What I Hear?" is also very easy on the ear; the strings are well used in the arrangement as is the percussion; and that medley of "Sleigh Ride" and "Marshmallow World" with John Pizzarelli leaves nothing to be desired--this music is all THAT good. John and Kristin should do more work together! In addition, "Sing" is very pretty even though it's not a holiday song--but it all holds its own very well and Kristin sings this so faultlessly that "Sing" doesn't seem all that much out of place.

"Silver Bells" is awesome! That country flavor enhances this ageless tune and Kristin's excellent diction enhances her performance greatly; the music also fits in perfectly with her singing. "Come On Ring Those Bells" is another country flavored holiday tune with lots of positive energy and a religious message; and "What Child Is This?" gets a most sensitive treatment from Kristin who sings this to perfection--and beyond!

"Home on Christmas Day" has Kristin yet again in the spotlight--which is right where she belongs! The music really rounds out this number to make it sound really special and that's grand. "Born on Christmas Day" is very pretty; and the album ends very well with Kristin Chenoweth performing a medley of "Sleep Well Little Children" and "What a Wonderful World."

Kristin Chenoweth possesses a rare talent that I rarely hear or enjoy; and this impresses me to no end. This is a must-have for any fan of Kristin Chenoweth; and it makes an excellent addition to anyone's holiday music collection. -- a wonderful holiday album from start to finish
